Hi friends! Long time, no post! Life changes all the time and I'm entering a new blogging phase I guess! I took a long break! LOL!

Streaming has taken a turn also - since Ustream has taken away the free services - I have moved to YouTube for my live streams. I was streaming on Thursdays but that has proved impossible so it's Friday mornings again! BrenTangle channel. Fridays 9am CT (10am Est).

Please subscribe and don't forget to hit the bell for notifications in your email!

I have also opened an affiliation with Amazon and will be providing links to the fun stuff I use! Please help support my art by using my links!

See y'all Fridays!Brenda Whiteheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12690028083423157701noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4633294866993610285.post-62237326512330541522017-05-24T10:46:00.000-05:002017-05-24T10:46:31.395-05:00Yahoo selling out to VerizonI just got an email that Yahoo is selling out to Verizon. Yahoo owns Flickr - and this is where most of the photos on this blog are housed. Some (ie most) of the photos may vanish as I intend to delete my Yahoo account and all it's associates. Which means I am deleting all the photos I have in Flickr.

I am sorry about this, but it is increasing complicated to have photos appear on the internet with all the rules out there. You never know where your intellectual properties will end up! This is why I have not been posting many photos lately.

I will continue to use Facebook - for now - and also Instagram. Although my life is such now that I am concentrating on my health mostly and am not in social media very much anyway. Just not enough hours in a day!

I will be moving photos back into Ravelry as best I can because Flickr is where most of my knitting pics are! I will figure this all out.

Enjoy your Summer people! XO brenBrenda Whiteheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12690028083423157701noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4633294866993610285.post-1013303391615710782017-04-18T10:10:00.000-05:002017-04-18T10:10:23.191-05:00Quick post!Still around, just not blogging right now! Injured my shoulder last summer and it's kept me from doing lots of things. However,
I will be at the
To say my life has been busy is an understatement! Wow. Most days fly by and if I didn't have my journal I'd be hard-pressed to remember what I've done. Currently, there is no "art" in the journal - just text - but it has been whispering to me to get out the paint and markers!

My once a year show - DFW FiberFest 2016 is April 1-3 this year and I'll be there the Thursday before setting up our booth. I don't know the number yet, but it's been in the same spot since the new convention center opened. My woodturner friend Fran will have her wonderful shawl pins and tools and I'll have handspun yarns, fiber and new knitting designs and kits!

So, it's crunch time! Spinning every day now and knitting too. Also when I take breaks from that, I'm working on my hexie quilt. My sketchbooks are pretty lonely and my art journals are whispering too but they will have to wait patiently until the show is over!
Come join in the calm at Angie Grace's Adult Coloring Group on Facebook. [link]

I discovered "adult coloring" in late June of this year and thanks to a friend (TY V) joined Angie's FB group, saw her designs and YES! Just what I was looking for! Angie's books are so beautiful, well done and on Amazon! [link]

You won't find tons of free patterns posted in the group but, Angie does have a bunch on her website. Her "Sampler" book is wonderful to work in to find your "thing". It contains a page from all of her books (which vary in type of designs) and she posts update pages on her site you can download. [link]

What you will find in this group is inspiration galore! Making Stickers for my Documented Life Project JournalJust finished a stream! You can find it here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/time-warp-art . I had some fun making my own stickers for my Documented Life Project Journal - and setting up a new journal. The video will also be uploaded to YouTube a bit later - including links to Terri Kahrs YT and website.
Our Eileen proposed we do a weekly challenge using either the Mixed Media Inspiration Card Deck by Kiala Givehand or The Prompt List we as a group made up. The Challenge will go from Sunday to Saturday each week, 10 prompts to be used to complete a page/or whatever, photos to be posted to Twitter upon completion. Use #Eileenpromptchallenge on Twitter to allow everyone to find your page pics!

The list below is the Prompt List we, as a group, put together in Jean's Stream (MusicScrp) chatroom Monday April 14, 2014 - upon her suggestion. I will also post MY revised personal list in case you want to use that to revise your own list. (I do NOT like to heat emboss nor will I be drawing with feet! LOL!) Both lists can be updated as needed.

The lists can be printed out or copy/pasted. Random.org can be used to pick your prompt numbers or you can cut them apart and put in a container to draw from.

I think we all know who to "blame" for this latest challenge - uhhuhcoughbarb - uhhuhcoughETEE. LOL!

If anyone has anything to add to this blog post please let me know! And our thanks to Jean for the list idea!

So the Time Warp Art Retreat is ON!

April 12-15 2013
Austin, Texas

The purpose of the Retreat is for as many members as possible of our online community to meet in person and spend time together doing fun things we all enjoy - making art!

When I got this idea, I was thinking very small but fate has stepped in and put her own spin on things. We now have a larger meeting space for the classroom so more friends can come to the Retreat! However, SPACES ARE LIMITED! Only so many people will fit into the classroom!

The Retreat will be from Friday night through Sunday night. There will be goody bags, prizes, shopping, mini classes, a pizza party Friday night, and more! We will be eating Tex-Mex and BBQ as requested!

The Retreat will be held at:

Comfort Suites Austin Airport Hotel

7501 E. Ben White Blvd., Austin, TX, US, 78741

Phone: (512) 386-6000 (hotel phone)

Web site: http://www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-austin-texas-TX573

DO NOT try to book your room through the website! You must CALL the hotel DIRECT and ask for Time Warp Art Retreat group rate. If this is a problem for you, please let me know!!

Room rates (ask for Time Warp Art Retreat group rate):
$80 = King
$90 = Two Queen
(The hotel tax is the usual 15%)

Each individual will be reponsible for reserving their own room(s). Hotel check-in is 3pm. Spaces are limited - we have a block of 20 rooms reserved. There are 4 rooms available for early (Thursday) and late (Tuesday) check-in/out.

The cut off date to reserve rooms at the discounted rate is March 22, 2013.

================================================

This Retreat is not for profit and the cost of all the things involved in putting on a gathering of this size will be shared by all participants. Therefore, a registration fee will be required and as is usual will be non-refundable.

The registration fee is $60 (discounted) if you sign up (hit that Paypal button!) by January 31, 2013. After that the fee goes up to $75. Ed.= I am leaving the fee at $60 - can't figure out how to change it! LOL

****CLOSED*****

================================================

Meals:

The pizza party Friday night is the only food included in the registration. The other meals are planned, but individuals will pay for their own food.

Transportation:

The Hotel has free shuttle service to and from the Airport every day (5am-11pm).

Shopping trip: I will NOT be renting a van (the cost is impossible!) so I will be asking for volunteers to drive us all shopping on Saturday April 13th! So, those who are driving in or renting a car, please think about being a driver for us (you will be compensated for gas).

================================================
INFO ADDED 02-12-13:
Those attending the retreat please think about whether or not you would like to teach us all something. The "class" should be about an hour long. Please also let me know if there will be a "kit" or a supply list.

I will be sending out an email soon to gather this information.

ATC SWAP:

The ATC swap will be some time on Sunday. I am making 24 (this is the top number of participants). Please remember to keep them 2.5 x 3.5 and try not to have things sticking out or not be too 3-D. Most of us plan to make mini books to hold them and the pockets are only so big! LOL!

================================================
If you would like to attend the Retreat, please contact me
by email (bren47 at austin dot rr dot com)
with your:

Ustream name (so we all know who we are LOL)
Twitter name (if you have one)
and any other information you'd like us know :-)

I will be posting a list of paid participants as they become known.
Hope to see you there!
Last year time was a problem so I am going smaller. Rather than my full size art journal, I am using 4 x 6 recipe index cards (Amazon here) and am challenging myself further by using a select stack of catalogs.

I won't be making a blog post for every day, but will group the days as time allows. I am posting my artwork on the http://www.flickr.com/groups/nanojoumo/ as well.

So here are the first 6 days!
The album base is made as is the screen base. I want Mom and I to complete the matting and decorating together. I have not glued down the skelly or the chair or mirror - I want her to be able to rearrange the furniture! LOL

The Haunted Closet (based on a Kathy Orta - PaperPhenomenon design called "Little Miss"). The construction of the closet itself is done except for attaching the drawer front - after I find or make a drawer pull. The chandelier still needs to be modified (I have removed a few items and will add more). The other furnishings have to be set in place but, I'm thinking they will not be permanently fastened in to allow for future changes. I'm all about the options!

I added a wire in the "ceiling" panel to hang the chandelier from before construction of the closet elements. It hangs from a large jump ring.

The doors will not be permanently installed but will be held on by magnets, included in the construction of the mini album that goes on one side and the "screen" that goes on the other. This way (and here is the option factor again! LOL) The two outer compartments can be used to display other items as well. I love the paper here - it looks like screen! (the doors are just leaning).

I used 3 sheets of chipboard to raise the closet (while it was lying down) to help me get the ceiling panel on centered and straight! This worked for the bottom panel as well.

This project is sooooo much fun! I am making the album and the screen now - will post the completed project when it's done. Hopefully soon - it's for my Mom and she already wants to get out her Halloween decorations! LOL!Hurry, hurry.....
After a really rough few days it was nice to be able to finish a piece of art tonight. The tag is from Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2012 Challenge - for September and you can see Tim's original post here.

This is the first tag I've completed for this year. It's been a crazy summer. I took metal tape from the hardware store and cut it up, ran the tag through the vagabond with a new texture fade (sheet metal), inked it but then since I didn't have any black ink - used a black paint dabber and rubbed it off. I used a Maya Road stamp and cut it out, added a stamped saying on parchment (appropriate to some family drama going on at the moment), cut it with decorative edged scissors.

I used a number 9 because it's the 9th month of the year. The little light bulb came from a stash my Dad left (thanks again Dad!) and wired on. The pen nib is real, left from my calligraphy classes of long ago and also wired on. :-)

Thanks Tim for the continued inspiration and challenges!
This is the card I made in my stream (TiMe WaRp ArT) this morning. I hope you all take off with some ideas of your own!

I got the paper technique from Davinie (thank you!). I was playing with the blocks, looked up at the chat and someone (I think it was Jean) said something about a line in a frame. So....one thing lead to another and... well, there you go. LOL!Brenda Whiteheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12690028083423157701noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4633294866993610285.post-81404613630002126342012-06-06T17:09:00.001-05:002012-06-15T18:54:33.212-05:00All Occasions Mini Done!Another Kathy Orta (Paper Phenomenon) project completed! This one is Fab as usual. It's called the All Occasion Mini Album. I am having soooo much fun with these! I can't believe I"m actually completing the projects!

See it in motion on my Ustream channel TiMe WaRp ArT.

I used 7 Gypsies "Lille" paper pads - the 8 inch and the 6 inch. Black cardstock base. I hope to use this album for our next vacation! Unless I think of something else in the mean time. LOL!
I finished the Keys 4 Art Cabinet (Kathy Orta design-Paper Phenomenon) and here it sits on my desk. It holds my Zentangle supplies and sketchbook on top! Molie or Handbook fits perfectly in the tray.

I made a drawer instead of mini albums. the drawer holds my pens and reading glasses. I've needed something functional to hold this stuff instead of keeping it piled (because I inevitably stack stuff on top and have to move something -bad, bad, bad!).

I used the Graphic 45 "Communique" paper collection. The bottom panel under the center section just has a paper laid there. It fits under the two side "boxes" because..... wait for it....

I put the whole thing together with VELCRO! That's right - all the pieces are put onto the backing board with Velcro! My brilliant son came up with this idea when I was stalling about putting it together. I wanted even more versatility and this gives it to me. I can make more pieces and switch them around - what fun!

The Gasp Pump is almost complete - still working out the top part before putting everything together. The mini albums and drawer are complete. More about this later when it's all finished! But here's a peek at the minis in the drawer:
