Yarn Crawl 2010

I picked up the tote bags and passports for the Hill Country Yarn Crawl this morning while at knitting! It starts Friday and the bus tour is on Sunday. This is the 4th year and I finally get to go again. I went the first year but missed the next 2 'cause we went on our long vacations at the "wrong time". This year, vacation isn't until the 15th (Davis Mountains - yippeee!)

I made these two I.D. tags for our tote bags. Oh - by "we" I mean Mom and me. The Hubby would NOT go with me. !!! The tags in the photo are sitting on my favorite Clapotis wrap - the one with several colorways of Noro Silk Garden. Several members of the knitting group are making Clapotis and I kind of want to make a fourth one, but I don't have time. Too many projects already in the works. Fighting Startitis!

I punched the tags out of some Tim Holtz stock - it has Bingo cards on the other side. I used a bunch of tiny scraps left-over from last years' artwork. I plan to tie them onto our tote bags with yarn. The tote bags are all folded into these cute little pouches! And this is what the "passport" looks like. Isn't it pretty? A lot of work went into the layout - it has maps to the shoppes and hours they're open and everything. I am impressed!

This is going to be a fun trip! Hopefully not too much yarn will follow me home......

Decisions-decisions For the Trip - part 2

I can never get the blogging software to put my photos where I want them so I have to use flickr to blog from - one pic at a time. Oh well, it gets the job done!

This is the pile of possible projects to take on the trip. Since we are driving from Texas to Tennessee that's a lot of drive time. I am mostly the passenger. (grin) This does not include the painting kit or watercolor pad. There are also some books I've been meaning to read in that red basket along with the old and new trip journals. Oh, and a bag of Hershey kisses! Shhhhhh....

We plan to see Graceland in Memphis on the way to the mountains. I have promised *everyone* to take photos of us in front of at least the Gate.

Noro and Cascade 220 Bag

Today at knitting class I started a bag that I will felt - by machine. This will be a first for me. I tried felting years ago and was not impressed therefore did not do any more. NOW I am fascinated! There are so many beautiful bags all over the internet (especially in Ravelry) that now *I* want to make some too.

I got yarn to make a red version as well. And I have yarn (all Cascade) to make a larger one with blended colors - in the shades of mountains from deep blue to violet to dusty rose. I don't know when I'll get to start the big one since we are leaving Sunday to go to the Smoky Mountains! Our first real vacation in 2 years. I have stuff placed all over the floors so I can see what to pack. What a mess this place is, but it will be worth it when we are packed and out the door!

Monkeys Done!

Went to the doctor again last week (foot doc this time). I have a Morton’s Neuroma on my right foot -where the toe bones meet the ball of the foot. Basically it’s an inflamed tendon. I ran when I should have walked – literally. I was doing so well walking and my knee felt great – so why not start running again? Ok. Bad idea. Wrong shoes. The third time out – whamo. Too much, too soon. I should know better by now! So….. I have to wear a funny looking boot and got a Cortisone shot. Ouch. And no walking for 2 weeks. More delays in my weight loss. Ugh.

On the flip side: More knitting! I finished both Monkey socks Friday!

Needles: Addi Turbo #0 circulars
Mods: Toe-up and PG-R short row heels
Time: Started 7-9-07, completed 7-20-07

These are nice and thick for Fall and Winter. And bright! Actually, I have a fall skirt (pumpkins etc…) that I made a while back and never wore…. These socks will be perfect with it!


I picked up the Baudelaire socks again. Started the second one yesterday and got to turn the heel before crashing for the night. So… they are both past the heel now and moving on up the legs!

We’re planning (Plan A) to take vacation mid-October and head East toward Florida this time. Been to Yellowstone twice and points in-between so we thought to head another direction in the country. DH’s brother and wife live that way, too. Three weeks on the road – and I AM looking forward to it! We really do enjoy driving and camping and try to go at least once a year for a long trip. We’ve been to Big Bend 3 times or is it 4? Anyway, we’ve been taking regular vacations since 2001. ‘Bout time! And I get to start a brand new Travel Journal this time out!
