Tablet Weaving on my PVC Loom

This is the 4th incarnation of my loom. With the help of my brilliant son and husband, I gathered ideas for the warp roller and here it is! It works great so far and I'm loving how easy it is to move the warp forward. The back piece of PVC has holes drilled in it (I have my own drill press) and a chopstick is inserted in the holes (which are drilled across from each other) to move and hold the roller bar.
The loom has "legs" to allow more room for rolled warp. This took many trips to Lowe's and one day I was in there for so long, my DH called to see where I was!

I have been looking at your loom here to try and decide if I can make one for myself. I don't understand a few of things. Firstly, why do you have 2 bars near the roll on one end? Maybe for additional support for the system? Secondly, how does the chopstick help the roll? Is there something I am missing on how the threads are attached? And lastly, what were your dimensions? I roughly made estimates, but was curious if yours were different and maybe what your reasoning was for the sizes you chose...

Thank you,

Nissa

I think the chopstick works as a lock for tightening the threads. She can adjust it as she weaves, putting the stick in the different holes in the plastic tube.

Can you please share the measurements and how you made your loom? My dh says he will make me one, but I need measurements from someone who has done it already.

I've been scouring the web for instructions on making a loom. Want to try my hand at weaving but looms are so expensive I can't justify it. Have you published the schematics for any of your looms?

If you see this and still use this loom, please consider doing a post where you show how to make and warp a similar one. I'd be very interested. I'm looking for a very compact loom which could hold a decent amount of work and this looks like it would work. Could this design be adapted for Inkle weaving if I added another cross piece on the vertical segment?
