Time Warp Art Retreat April 12-15 2013

So the Time Warp Art Retreat is ON!

The purpose of the Retreat is for as many members as possible of our online community to meet in person and spend time together doing fun things we all enjoy - making art!

When I got this idea, I was thinking very small but fate has stepped in and put her own spin on things. We now have a larger meeting space for the classroom so more friends can come to the Retreat! However, SPACES ARE LIMITED! Only so many people will fit into the classroom!

The Retreat will be from Friday night through Sunday night. There will be goody bags, prizes, shopping, mini classes, a pizza party Friday night, and more! We will be eating Tex-Mex and BBQ as requested!

DO NOT try to book your room through the website! You must CALL the hotel DIRECT and ask for Time Warp Art Retreat group rate. If this is a problem for you, please let me know!!


Room rates (ask for Time Warp Art Retreat group rate):
$80 = King
$90 = Two Queen
(The hotel tax is the usual 15%)

Each individual will be reponsible for reserving their own room(s). Hotel check-in is 3pm. Spaces are limited - we have a block of 20 rooms reserved. There are 4 rooms available for early (Thursday) and late (Tuesday) check-in/out.

The cut off date to reserve rooms at the discounted rate is March 22, 2013.

This Retreat is not for profit and the cost of all the things involved in putting on a gathering of this size will be shared by all participants. Therefore, a registration fee will be required and as is usual will be non-refundable.

The registration fee is $60 (discounted) if you sign up (hit that Paypal button!) by January 31, 2013. After that the fee goes up to $75. Ed.= I am leaving the fee at $60 - can't figure out how to change it! LOL

Meals:

The pizza party Friday night is the only food included in the registration. The other meals are planned, but individuals will pay for their own food.

Transportation:

The Hotel has free shuttle service to and from the Airport every day (5am-11pm).

Shopping trip: I will NOT be renting a van (the cost is impossible!) so I will be asking for volunteers to drive us all shopping on Saturday April 13th! So, those who are driving in or renting a car, please think about being a driver for us (you will be compensated for gas).

INFO ADDED 02-12-13:
 Those attending the retreat please think about whether or not you would like to teach us all something. The "class" should be about an hour long. Please also let me know if there will be a "kit" or a supply list.

I will be sending out an email soon to gather this information.

ATC SWAP:

The ATC swap will be some time on Sunday. I am making 24 (this is the top number of participants). Please remember to keep them 2.5 x 3.5 and try not to have things sticking out or not be too 3-D. Most of us plan to make mini books to hold them and the pockets are only so big! LOL!

New Year's Eve Streamathon!

Our Art Community is having a Stream-a-thon for New Year's Eve and I'm happy to be a part of it!
(More details and links later).

Here's a supply list for the project I will be making, if you'd like to work along with me and make some "Pretty Pockets":

Square, double-sided paper - I will be using 8 inch and 6 inch but any size will do.
hole punch
ribbon, hemp twine, baker's twine, etc (for a hanger)
Embellishments - flowers, charms, etc...

These pockets are Origami style! You guys know I love Origami - so hope to "see" you in my chat room on New Year's Eve!

NANOJOUMO Days 1 thru 6

I have decided to once again join NANOJOUMO (more info HERE) and see if I can get past the first week! Last year time was a problem so I am going smaller. Rather than my full size art journal, I am using 4 x 6 recipe index cards (Amazon here) and am challenging myself further by using a select stack of catalogs.

I won't be making a blog post for every day, but will group the days as time allows. I am posting my artwork on the http://www.flickr.com/groups/nanojoumo/ as well.

Halloween Closet Finished!

The closet is finished and will be delivered to Mom tomorrow! The album base is made as is the screen base. I want Mom and I to complete the matting and decorating together. I have not glued down the skelly or the chair or mirror - I want her to be able to rearrange the furniture! LOL

Haunted Mansion Closet-Quick Update!

The mini album is put together and the screen is together! I just have to mat them both! WooHOO!
